Jewish life in Vienna starts as early as the 12th century. Few cities have a history as closely connected with Jewish history as the city on the Danube. Despite two major expulsions, Jewish people continued to settle in Vienna. Before the SHoah the Vienna Jewish community was one of the largest in Europe. Today the active Jewish Community compromises about 8000 members of the 10000 to 12000 Jewish people living in Vienna. Come explore history with us on the Original Jewish Vienna Tour.
