The Palace (Hofburg) outside / Treasury
The Hofburg is the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty rulers. Since the 13th century the Hofburg area has been the documented seat of government. The Imperial Treasury as well as the Ecclesiastical Treasury offers a unique panorama covering over a millennium of European history: it is home to the insignia and jewels of the Holy Roman Empire, including the Imperial Crown as well as the Crown of Emperor Rudolf II. which later on became the Crown of the Austrian Empire. Also on exhibit are the Burgundian treasure from the 15th century including the treasure of the Order of the Golden Fleece, the Habsburg dynastic order.
