Silver Chamber / Sisi Museum / Imperial Apartments
The Hofburg was the residence of the Habsburgs for over 650 years and thus the centre of the Holy Roman Empire. Apart from its function as the seat of government and administrative centre, it was also the residence of the imperial family. The former Court Silver and Table Room is a unique collection of objects and items that gives a insight into the culture of courtly dining in its various form. The Sisi-Museum with numerous personal items will help to illustrate the true personality of the frequently misunderstood Empress. Most of the former Habsburg apartments house a range of offices, government ministries and the presidential chancellery, whereas the apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth are today open to the public and are included in this tour.
